Corporal punishment is lawful in the home and in alternative care and day care settings in Thailand and although it is banned in schools since 2000, it is still prevalent. According to a survey from the <a href=\"https:\/\/tdri.or.th\/en\/\">Thailand Development Research Institute<\/a>, 61.4% of Thai students have faced physical violence from teachers, the number rises to 70% for schools outside of Bangkok.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The End Corporal Punishment <a href=\"https:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/reports-on-every-state-and-territory\/thailand\/\">profile for Thailand<\/a> states that &#8220;The Global Initiative no longer considers Thailand committed to prohibiting all corporal punishment of children without delay, as corporal punishment continues to remain lawful&#8230;&#8221; A further study conducted by YouGov determined that &#8220;80% of Thai parents suffered at least one form of corporal punishment growing up&#8221; and &#8220;parents that have experienced physical discipline growing are more likely to inflict it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year Childline Thailand are joining the global event by launching a facebook group aimed at educating parents about breaking the cycle of violence and raising awareness about the negative health, developmental and behavioural outcomes for children who are punished with anger or assault. &#8220;Aside from the pain and humiliation corporal punishment can cause, it also impacts children\u2019s long-term health and well-being, causing a ripple effect for decades to come.&#8221; (end-violence.org)<\/p>\n<p><em>Please show your support by joining our &#8216;Thailand doesn&#8217;t Hit Kids&#8221; Facebook group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/768497073767728\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/768497073767728\/<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>April 30th is the International Day to End Corporal Punishment of Children<\/strong>,\u00a0 <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50% of all school-age children in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> live in countries where corporal punishment at school is not fully prohibited <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> leaving 720 million children without legal protection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But this month, the world is coming together to push for something better.<\/p>\n<p>End Violence has issued a statement that calls on all governments to prohibit corporal punishment and begin the legislative process to do so. We are asking everyone \u2013 from governments to organisations to individuals \u2013 to endorse this statement and showcase the widespread support for universal prohibition.<\/p>\n<p><span
